Second innings: Retired IPS men outshine Indian Administrative Service

Having lived in the shadow of their counterparts in the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and the Indian Foreign Service (IFS) for years and often dubbed as their “poor cousins”, officers of the Indian Police Service (IPS) have never had it so good in landing influential positions in the government post retirement.

While West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Meghalaya, Manipur, Nagaland and Uttar Pradesh each have a retired IPS officer in the Raj Bhavan, several IPS officers have landed plum jobs in the government after retiring from service.
