City takes Chargers, trophy to its heart
Deccan Chargers returned with the IPL trophy to possibly the biggest imprompt party ever seen in the city’s history.
Hyderabad simply took ownership of the Chargers and the trophy, thousands of people joining the team bus in their own vehicles, and thousands upon thousands more lining the roads to cheer the team.
Fans stopped the bus to see their heroes, leaned into the windows to shake hands and everyone started taking photographs. At places, they just stopped the vehicle to dance to let their joy be known.
It seemed bigger than the welcome Mumbai gave to Team India after winning the T20 World Cup last year. The welcome was set up on its own by the city.
