65 years after Auschwitz liberated: Tributes flow
Auschwitz survivors, Soviet veterans and leaders, including Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu gathered on Wednesday for emotionally-charged ceremonies on the 65th anniversary of the notorious Nazi death camp's liberation.
US President Barack Obama spoke of the "sacred duty to remember the cruelty" of Auschwitz and of "resisting anti-Semitism and ignorance in all its forms" in a video address aired at a forum organised by the European Jewish Congress in Krakow, southern Poland, ahead of official afternoon ceremonies at the Auschwitz site.
