Encounter specialist reinstated
Controversial encounter specialist Pradeep Sharma, who was dismissed by Mumbai police for his alleged links with underworld gangs, was on Thursday ordered to be reinstated by the Maharashtra Administrative Tribunal which held that his removal was unsustainable under law.
48-year-old Sharma, an Inspector with the Mumbai police who has killed 112 criminals in 25 years of service, was dismissed from the force by the Maharashtra Government on August 31 last year for his alleged links with the crime syndicate.
Sharma was accused of corruption and amassing wealth running into a whopping Rs.3000 crore. He was suspected to have ties with gangs led by Chotta Rajan and Dawood Ibrahim. Sharma has denied the allegations.
