Amarnath Yatra rescheduled, begins June 15
Amarnath Yatra was rescheduled today. Instead of June 7 the pilgrimage would now start from June 15.
According to a spokesperson of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB), the rescheduling was done in view of the accumulated heavy snow at various stretches along the Chandanwari-holy cave track.
He added that the governor, N. N.Vohra, who is the chairman of the shrine board took this decision after undertaking an aerial survey to assess the situation on both the routes and at the base camps.
Governor had earlier completed an aerial survey of the tracks on May 6 and 8 to assess the situation before the yatra schedule of June 7 was finalised.
