Gulzar’s poetry kicks off 5-day annual fest
The fourth annual Jaipur Festival began on Wednesday with poetry recitals by noted poet and lyricist Gulzar while Rajasthani poet recited poems in the rich language of Dingal. Gulzar said Hindustani poetry has reached a wider range.
The five-day festival attracted a large number of writers, film personalities, artists and poets. Gulzar recited a few famous poems. He spoke of the state of books in the changed world of computers and described the relationship of books and life.
“The aim and motive of poetry is the same as it was earlier. Hindustani shayari was confined to a few but it has now reached more areas,” he said.
Gulzar said Indian languages have a rich literature, but they to be translated to reach audiences across the world.
