2,000 Megawatts Nuclear plant for state
The Union minister of state for power, Mr Jairam Ramesh, on Wednesday announced a 2,000 mw nuclear power plant for the state.
Announcing the commissioning of a slew of projects, Mr Ramesh said Andhra Pradesh would be adding 1300 mw to its power kitty this year, a record of sorts compared to the situation in other states.
Addressing the media in the presence of the Chief Minister, Dr Y.S.Rajasekhar Reddy, at New Delhi, Mr Ramesh said Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited and the state-owned APGenco will sign the partnership agreement this month to set up the plant.
Under the agreement, NPCIL will have 51 per cent stake in the plant, while the remaining will be with APGenco.
