The Burkini Burst

Burkini is a portmanteau of the Burka and the Bikini. As seen from the picture the suit covers enough to protect Muslim modesty. The Burkini was designed by Lebanese Australian Aheda Zanetti as a type of swimsuit. She says it can also used by others as it protects the skins and helps in utilizing ones swimming skills.

However its felt that this much publicized creation by Zanetti seemed to have been to gain popularity instead of liberating the Muslim woman. In the Australian society, a Muslim swimmer must have been using other costumers of convenience earlier too. While the above could be in the case of recreation, but if they were a Muslim professional female swimmer in the near future the Burkini will definitely be thrust upon her. It could spark a chain of events leading to Muslim sportswomen being conscious on covering themselves completely instead of focusing on the game. It may not be long when one hears calls for India's tennis icon Sania Mirza to be covered completely while playing Tennis. Watch as the events unfold as the game has just begun.
